Resting Bitch Face
Artwork By: Maria Cazzato
Artist Statement:
This piece depicts the constant pressure women feel to be presentable and pleasant in public. Any woman who has a face has likely been accused of having RBF or been told to fix their appearance in one way or another. By shaming women for their "resting bitch face" we send the message that their default setting should be likable and appealing. Telling women to smile and shaming them just for existing with their natural face implies that it is a woman's job to be appealing to the public. Anything less, and they're a bitch.
